The OU Confucius Institute is offered at Carnegie and a bus from Eliot is available. The Chinese after school program is currently being held at Carnegie, but with enough interest and participation we can look at starting a new program at Eliot. The cost is comparable with our current after care program, but children experience a structured environment while learning a second language.
Running club takes place in the fall and will convene from 7:00-7:20am on the Eliot track on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students and parents/guardians are welcome to come and enjoy a few minutes of cardio running or walking around the track. No sign-up necessary; the running club leader is Greg Jurney.
Young Rembrandts is a wonderful art education program in which students can gain the following skills:
- Fine motor skills (handwriting)
- Attention to detail and focus
- Process, order and completion
- Visual discrimination
- Time on task
- Visual-spatial organization skills
- Expanded image vocabulary
- Persistence and follow through
- Patience, discipline and manners
- Increased self esteem and confidence
